Cuban executives are promoting here today mining business opportunities, in order to attract Chinese investment as a way to optimize this industry and expand economic development.

A delegation from the Ministry of Energy and Mines held a seminar on exchange at the Cuban Embassy today to propose to Chinese entrepreneurs and institutions several projects, particularly in nickel and cobalt activity.

Alexis Gongora, deputy director general of Mining in Cuba, told Prensa Latina that there is a high level of progress in the ferronickel project in which several Chinese companies are involved, and an agreement is being made with the Metallurgical Corporation of China (MCC).

He stressed the Chinese interest for years to invest in Cuban mining, adding that projects in this sector are closely linked to costs and require a long time due to geological research, testing of minerals and selection of the proper technology.

According to the expert, China has two valuable factors to be used and combined, the financing and technology to process minerals.
